Electrical work, handled

Mini Splits and Electrical Panel Work

Updated September 2026

Every mini split needs power, and some installs need more than a plug. A typical single zone system runs on a dedicated 240 volt circuit with a disconnect at the outdoor unit. If the panel has breaker space, that is routine work. If the panel is full, undersized, or aged out, the job can also involve panel work before the mini split goes in.

This trips up a lot of quotes. A homeowner collects HVAC bids, picks one, and then discovers the electrical side is a separate contractor, a separate visit, and a separate invoice. Mini Split Reef handles it differently: standard electrical for the install, including the dedicated circuit and disconnect, is coordinated inside the flat price. One zone is $2,000 installed, two zones $4,000, three zones $6,000, materials and labor included. The only electrical exception, named up front, is a panel upgrade the house already needed regardless of the mini split.

What is and is not included

Included in the flat rate: the dedicated circuit for the unit, the outdoor disconnect, hookup, and testing, performed and coordinated as part of the install. Not included, and always named before work starts: a panel upgrade the house already needed. If your panel genuinely cannot take another circuit, we tell you before anything is scheduled, not after the head is on the wall.
